Cuvée de Réserve NV, Blanc de Noirs, Champagne Gallimard Père et Fils
The Gallimard family, producers of Champagne from father to son for 6 generations, develop their Champagnes with the greatest respect for tradition and modern winemaking.
This Blanc de Noirs Champagne is made up of 30 % of Reserve Wine and 10 % soléra of 6 vintages.
Light gold in colour, this is a full bodied, but beautifully well balanced wine that shows ripe citrus and hints of tropical fruit on the nose, and a refreshing palate with a creamy and moreish texture.
It’s full and rich but also vibrant and aromatic, exceptional value for money.

This is an excellent aperitif, but will match very well with scallops or Asian inspired fish dishes.
Riesling Andi Knauss 2021, Wurttemberg, Remstal, Germany
Andi Knauss, who now is in his early thirties, started to work together with his father at their family estate in the Remstal region, east of Stuttgart, in 2004 as the fourth generation. Vineyard land here is expensive, but Andi has slowly built up the estate parcel-by-parcel, sometimes just a row, and today he works 15 hectares of vineyards.
This great, dry Riesling is very easy drinking, refreshing and crisp, with aromas of green apples and lemons, and some spice and herbal elements. It has a great acidity and delivers lemony citrus notes with a hint of salinity.

Pair with spicy foods, South East Asian dishes with a bit of heat
Loin de L’Oeil, Domaine Gayrard, 2019

On the palate, you will enjoy rich and harmonious flavours. you will find notes of black truffle, pear and mineral structured body with persistent finish.

Considered something of a “maverick” for his modern approach to vinification, Andreas blends grapes from his top vineyards to create wines with a wonderful poise, balancing potent fruit and a unique minerality. Andreas Bender describes his ethos: “The most important things for me are first-class grapes from the best locations, traditional winemaking and uncompromising quality.”
Jean-Claude Lapalu Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2021
One of the stars of Beaujolais, Lapalu produces wines in a traditional style. His wines have an intensity reminiscent of Burgundy Pinot Noir (his 2018 vintage was rated very highly and he’s gone from strength to strength).
All production of his Domaine follows organic and biodynamic principles. This is such a pure and succulent expression of Beaujolais, red berries and fruits abound with a fine, savoury finish – indicative of quality and ageing potential.

Chateau Noaillac, Cru Bourgeois 2014 Médoc, Bordeaux, France
A rising star. Damien, Marc Pages’s grandson, took over the running of this property some years ago. Around 40 years ago, the family discovered that the soil in this northerly part of the Médoc had once produced excellent wines but the land had been abandoned.
Now with 49 hectares, and the vines becoming older, 20-25 years on average, a new chai with rows of temperature controlled stainless steel vats and an immaculate barrel cellar. Château Noaillac is now producing succulent, lovely early drinking claret.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (55%) and Petit Verdot (5%). Chateau Noaillac is a cru bourgeois that has great complexity and ageing potential whilst, in its youth, the smooth and charming qualities of the land. Therefore, it can be enjoyed in its youth or after being kept for a few years.
Grapes: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 55% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot.
Abv: 13%
Bottle: 75cl
Food Pairing: The wine will pair extremely well with roast meats, in particular game meats such as venison.
Mount Horrocks Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Country: Australia
Region: Clare Valley
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
Volume: 75cl
ABV: 14%
Vintage: 2018
Suitable for Vegans: Yes
Suitable for Vegetarians: Yes
Food pairing: A classic Cab Sauv, this would be a great match to roasted red meats with big, rich smokey flavours.
Mount Horrocks is owned by winemaker Stephanie Toole, who restricts production to approximately 2,500 cases per year in order to achieve her aims of quality and single-vineyard expression. The Clare Valley winery was established in 1980 and purchased by Stephanie in 1993, since then she has made significant improvements to the wines, vineyards and winery. In 2014, the winery and vineyards were organically certified by the ACO (Australian Certified Organic) and in 2021, they were certified biodynamic.
Stephanie describes her wines as ‘hand-made food wines’ with an emphasis on structure as well as generous fruit flavours. All grapes are estate grown and hand picked from two organically managed vineyards: the ‘Cordon Cut’ vineyard at Auburn close to the cellar door, planted only to Riesling; and the ‘Alexander’ vineyard at Watervale for Riesling, Semillon, Nero d’Avola, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. She has a total of nearly 10 hectares of vines. Stephanie’s persistence with classic, no-compromise winemaking and a fully integrated organic approach to growing sets Mount Horrocks wines apart from the mainstream.
Each release from Stephanie seems to eclipse the quality standard set by the previous vintage. The ‘Watervale’ Riesling is a regional classic, the Semillon is barrel fermented and exquisite, while the ‘Cordon Cut’ Riesling ranks among Australia’s best sweet wines. Stephanie’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are ethereal, elegant expressions from Clare and get better every year. Stephanie decided to make a Nero d‘Avola after falling for the variety on a trip to Sicily. Hand-picked at full ripeness, it is a wine that is bright and lively, with medium weight and bursting with muscular fruit.
Marsala Superiore Oro 2017 Vigna La Miccia
This is a quite distinctive an innovative style of semi-dry Marsala first created by Marco Bartoli back in 1985.
Considered one of Sicily’s winemaking pioneers for his long-standing commitment to the native Sicilian white grape varieties, Grillo and Zibibbo. He produces them on two separate estates: the first in Marsala, in Sicily’s south-west corner, the other on the small island of Pantelleria, south-east of Sicily.
In 1982 De Bartoli created ‘Vigna La Miccia’, classified as an ‘Oro’ or gold Marsala, which is a sweeter, fresher dessert wine produced using a cold vinification process; it reveals an intense bouquet of Grillo and Inzolia grapes.
Fruity and elegant palate with flavours of raisins and dried figs, caramelised walnuts, and freshly ground coffee.
Country: Italy
Region: Marsala, Sicily
Grape: Grillo
Volume: 500ml
ABV: 18%
Vintage: 2016
Suitable for Vegans: Yes
Suitable for Vegetarians: Yes
Food pairing: A classic sweet wine for chocolate or coffee desserts (obviously a Tiramisu would be heavenly) but you could also wander off-road and serve this chilled alongside some aged Parmigiano-Reggiano to highlight the saline, nutty complexity of the cheese.
Castelnau de Suduiraut Sauternes 2016 (37.5cl)
On 18 April 1855 the estate was classed as a Premier Cru during the official wine classification programme in the Gironde winegrowing area.
Semillon is a traditional variety of the region. When it is infected with noble rot it has an ample structure on the palate and gives the wine great mellowness and unctuosity. Wines produced with Semillon grapes are remarkably aromatic: they evoke honeyed fragrances, grilled dried fruits, acacia blossom and candied citrus.
The 2016 is restrained on the nose, but comes into its own after airing with woody, spicy notes enhancing candied fruit. Fresh and silky on the palate, with generous notes of melon, acacia honey and candied citrus through to a taut finish of brown sugar, candied orange and a hint of minerality.
Grapes: Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc
Abv: 13.5%
Bottle: 375ml
Food pairing: A wonderful pairing for fresh peaches, nectarines and apricots served with creme fraiche and toasted almonds.
