Malvasia Nera 'Talo' 2020, San Marzano, Puglia, Italy × 2

In 1962, 19 vine growers from San Marzano whose families had farmed the land for generations, combined their efforts to establish 'Cantine San Marzano'.

An intense and complex bouquet of ripe red fruits combined with hints of spice. A full-bodied wine with delicious flavours of Morello cherry, thyme and vanilla notes through to a smooth finish. Huge bang for buck!

2

Rioja Crianza Rivallana 2018 Ondarre, Rioja, Spain × 2

Bodegas Ondarre was founded in 1985, with the aim of creating wines which showcase the region’s distinct terroirs.

Spicy fruit aromas are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla from oak ageing. Savoury and ripe fruit flavours combine on the palate resulting in a traditional Rioja style.

2

Château de l'Herbe Sainte 'Tradition' 2018, Minervois, France × 2

The delightful Domaine de L’Herbe Sainte, in the Eastern Minervois, is just on the edge of the delightful small village of Mirepeisset.

Bright, deep red with a very typical nose of black fruit, black olive, cedar and garrigue. On the palate, a dense fruit led wine with well-integrated tannins and the same, delicious rich southern range of aromas.

CORKAGE CHRISTMAS TOAST-WORTHY TREATS CASE

Turn your festive plans into celebrations with case of amazing wines!

Rathfinny Estate Classic Cuvée 2018

At Rathfinny they believe every vintage produces a Sussex Sparkling wine that is a true expression of the year. An insight into a unique year on their single site Vineyard in Sussex.

The third vintage of their Classic Sussex Sparkling is made from a blend of predominantly Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, aged for 30 months in the bottle.

Bright citrus notes on the nose with expressive fruit hints of orchard apples and tangerine. The palate holds a soft mousse with toasted almond flavours and honeydew melon.

Country: England

Region: Sussex

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier

Volume: 75cl

ABV: 12%

Vintage: 2018

Suitable for Vegans: No

Suitable for Vegetarians: No

Food pairing: The wine’s rich notes mean it’s great with mushrooms and truffle as well as being a great accompaniment for shellfish and fish dishes, especially fish and chips. Don’t hesitate to pair it with lightly flavoured charcuterie.

Neck of the Woods ‘Madhouse’ Pinot Gris 2020

Parcels of fruit were hand-picked from a 20 year old vineyard in Gibbston in mid-April 2020. Whole bunches were loaded into the press and the juice gently extracted over a three hour cycle with no press cuts. The juice was settled in tank overnight before being racked to neutral barrels (11%) and stainless steel tanks (89%).

Crunchy pear, elderflower, lemon zest and vanilla bean on the nose with more citrus notes to follow on the palate. White blossom and refined stone fruit on the front palate leads to a finely textured mid palate that finishes long and fresh. An outstanding expression of Pinot Gris.

Country: New Zealand
Region: Central Otago
Grape: Pinot Gris
Volume: 75cl
ABV: 13%
Vintage: 2020
Suitable for Vegans: Yes
Suitable for Vegetarians: Yes
Food pairing: Think spring-time barbecue with this Pinot Gris, or fragrant fish dishes and poultry dishes with a touch of richness. Even gently spiced lamb kofta with fresh mint tzatziki, grilled fish or even halloumi. You could certainly go vegan too with charred asparagus with lemon zest and wild garlic pesto.

Montagny 1er Cru Cuvée Les Grappes D’Or 2019 Dom. Feuillat-Juillot

An unctuous expression from Montagny, ripe fruit and flowers on the nose with buttery complexity, honeyed melons and a delightful pithy finish reminiscent of pink grapefruit. An awesome wine, the very definition of an overachiever.

A concentrated and mineral-driven Chardonnay, the 1er Cru Les Grappes d’Or is a blend of five different premier crus on Marne calcaires, from vines dating back to 1950.

Country: France

Region: Burgundy

Grape: Chardonnay

Volume: 75cl

ABV: 14%

Vintage: 2019

Suitable for Vegans: Yes

Suitable for Vegetarians: Yes

Food pairing: As with all rich Chardonnays, roasted poultry is always a lovely match but the acidity of this wine would lend itself well to honey roast ham, ripe and creamy cheeses with gently spiced chutneys.

Mercurey Premier Cru, Clos des Barraults 2017, Domaine Michel Juillot

Domaine Michel Juillot is one of the leading estates in Mercurey. Laurent Juillot is the fourth generation to run the domaine and he has inherited his father Michel’s attention to detail and focus on quality.

This wonderful Pinot Noir has elements of softwood, earthy notes and a ripe nose of dark berries, with a hint of black pepper spice. The tannins are very well integrated and work in harmony with the wine’s minerality leading to a long finish.

Country: France

Region: Burgundy

Grape: Pinot Noir

Volume: 75cl

ABV: 13.5%

Vintage: 2017

Suitable for Vegans: No

Food pairing: roast pigeon with chanterelles and blackberries, roast kidneys with sage, mustard and roast shallots.

Palazzo Della Torre, Veronese, Allegrini 2018

The Allegrini family estate covers 120 hectares of vineyard in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area. The family has been growing grapes here for six generations. Palazzo della Torre covers 26 hectares of east-facing vineyards planted between 1962 and 1989, situated at an average altitude of 240 metres above sea level. The wine spent 15 months in second-use oak barriques, and was blended together for two months, then aged for a further seven months in bottle.

A rustic, earthy nose is supported beautifully on the palate by rich cherry, semi-dried figs, fresh leather and spice.

Country: Italy

Region: Valpolicella Classico, Veneto

Grape: 40% Corvina , 30% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella, 5% Sangiovese

Volume: 75cl

ABV: 13.5%

Vintage: 2018

Suitable for Vegans: Yes

Suitable for Vegetarians: Yes

Food pairing: A classic, rich ragu would work well here, plenty of meaty flavours to support. A less traditional but equally delicious pairing would be seared ribeye steak dressed with dark soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds served alongside a crunchy asian slaw.

Dow’s Fine Tawny Port

Dow’s Fine Tawny is a three-year-old blend aged in small oak casks at their lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. The barrel ageing produces a smoother and lighter style of wine than the Dow’s Ruby which is aged primarily in large oak vats and tonels.

This lovely Tawny Port combines subtle fruit with delicious velvety nutty flavours derived from the cask ageing. It is ready to drink and enjoy when bottled and does not require further ageing.

Dark ripe fruit notes, reminiscent of plum, figs and blackcurrants. Full bodied and well balanced

ABV: 19%

Food Pairing:

This Port can be enjoyed as an aperitif, and it’s an ideal accompaniment to nuts, cheeses or desserts.
