La Berne’, Condrieu, Lionel Faury 2018

‘La Berne’ Condrieu, Lionel Faury 2018

A sublime and concentrated Condrieu from the birthplace and home of the Viognier grape.

This single vineyard plot gives one its finest expressions. Lionel Faury is dedicated artisan, whose ambition is to create the best rather than more. Scented apricot and peach notes yet with an acidity and freshness to balance. Partial new oak maturation adds weight and substance

Michel Chapoutier is a seventh generation winemaker and something of a legend in the world of wine. He’s dedicated his life to organic and biodynamic practices, and his wines are shining examples of the stunning terroir he works in.

The family-run wineries in Hermitage have been producing excellent drops since 1929. When Michel became head of the company in 1990 he revamped and reworked the vineyards via biodynamic principles and cemented a future for this prestigious brand.

His 2019 La Berne Condrieu is a rare beauty, showing all of the exquisite features of cool climate Viognier underpinned by his bombastic personality. Ripe peaches and apricots with bunches of crushed petals and honeycomb, rich and racy. We’re very excited here at Corkage to stock something so special.
